One of the first things I ever “cooked” was green cream mints, and when I saw them online this morning, I just had to revisit them. They were awesome and transported me right back to my Mum’s kitchen. Fantastic!
As of today I have been a parent for an entire decade. Wow. She has changed so much… she is loving, determined and intelligent… also stubborn, dramatic and has a wide diva streak. I can’t believe this willful, wonderful creature has been in my life for so long. Happy 10th birthday Sweetheart.
My children all have the caving instinct. They are happiest making a tent or fort under the kitchen table to play. This brought it to a new level with DD#3 falling asleep under/on the coffee table. That really couldn’t have been too comfy! Comfortable enough though apparently!
Today my eldest celebrated her 10th birthday with a few friends. They had a great time swimming in the pool, painting on canvas bags and generally being children. I made this super easy cake for her and I have to say it was a hit!
In an effort to make our lives easier, we are working on making a schedule – so far it’s been semi successful…. insofar that we have breakfast at 7am. But hey, we are working on it. On August 1st we are going to start working the school year schedule so everyone is used to it before school goes back on August 20th. Next to the schedule we have our chore charts. Each lists what chore each child has to do, and they get one ticket per chore. Each ticket is worth .25c that they can use to save towards a trip to the dollar store. There is also a reward card in the baggie – each chore the child does without complaining, they get one hole punched. Once they fill the nine square with holes, they’ve earned their happy meal for the next week.
Opened the fridge this afternoon to get out some raspberries for DD#5’s snack and discovered two things – 1. The raspberries had all mysteriously disappeared and 2. The culprit was DD#4. How to I know? She has a habit of leaving behind any toy she happened to be holding when she got into the fridge to pilfer whatever her current favourite food item might be. Loopsy is currently sitting right where the raspberries where… *sigh*
DD#5 went to see the dentist today and I must say she did awesomely. She was curious about everything and had to touch ALL the things. She didn’t much like the fluoride application on her 5 teeth, but went with the flow and scored herself a neat little tooth brush and a little plush animal 🙂
Today was a big day for DD#1 and Hubby! They went to the Hernando Farmer’s Market for the first time and officially launched Sammy’s Jams. They did so well, and have a total of 12 flavours 🙂 Including a fantastic sweet and sour pepper jam – it tastes fantastic on hot dogs 🙂 Just my opinion 🙂
