For the last little while, I have been trying different laundry detergents, mostly because it turns out the DD#5 is allergic to some ingredient in it, it breaks they break her out in a rash. I’ve tried soapnuts with great success, but they are a little spendy in large amount, and with the amount of laundry I do on a weekly basis, it makes more sense to make my own. So… break out pinterest! I tried a couple of liquid homemade ones, but I couldn’t get it right. Then I saw this one… concentrated laundry detergent, it’s a lot like whipped buttercream. It works fantastically too! I am super impressed. I made about 9 months of detergent in the end, for about $16! Awesome!
I have been working on this binder for the past week. Scouring the internet for useful printables and making my own when I couldn’t find what I needed. So far it’s been fantastic and so very useful! I’ll be posting more about it on my pinterest blog this weekend!
In an effort to make our lives easier, we are working on making a schedule – so far it’s been semi successful…. insofar that we have breakfast at 7am. But hey, we are working on it. On August 1st we are going to start working the school year schedule so everyone is used to it before school goes back on August 20th. Next to the schedule we have our chore charts. Each lists what chore each child has to do, and they get one ticket per chore. Each ticket is worth .25c that they can use to save towards a trip to the dollar store. There is also a reward card in the baggie – each chore the child does without complaining, they get one hole punched. Once they fill the nine square with holes, they’ve earned their happy meal for the next week.
As summer progresses, I am already scrapping the barrel at how much I can take from my children sometimes. The whining makes my ears bleed. True fact – well, maybe not. As I was wandering around Pinterest I caught a post on Kid Of The Day. I read the post. I decided to give this a try! Basically, it’s supposed to help cut out the whining, whinging and general carryings on. Kid of the day gets to sit in the front seat – well, the people who are legally old enough are allowed to I should say. But in all other things – KOTD gets to help with dinner prep, not change diapers, choose snack, choose the TV show to watch, play with a coveted toy first. So on and so forth. They love it already!
For her recent birthday, DD#5 got this soft, gorgeous little bear from my parents. DD#2 has christened him Gilbert – after the goldfish from the Goldfish cracker ads. Lol! When I went to check on her during her nap time, I found her snuggled up with him. L.O.V.E!!!
Mum probably won’t be grateful for this picture… I took it as my hubby attempted to drop a plate of candle topped cupcakes in my lap during our weekly skype video chats. LOL. He managed to save them and I hope we made Mum smile with the cupcakes. Happy birthday Mum!
