Day 208: Caterpillar friend

DD#2 rescued this fellow from the pool this afternoon. It looks like he is starting to pupate!

Day 207: Blast from the past

One of the first things I ever “cooked” was green cream mints, and when I saw them online this morning, I just had to revisit them.  They were awesome and transported me right back to my Mum’s kitchen. Fantastic!

Day 206: Working hard

I’ve been hard at work this week setting up the website for our jelly making business. It is not live yet, and I have a lot of work to still do, but it’s coming a long. I am hoping I will get a lot of it knocked out this weekend and we’ll be able to go live on Sunday.

Day 205: Homemade laundry detergent

For the last little while, I have been trying different laundry detergents, mostly because it turns out the DD#5 is allergic to some ingredient in it, it breaks  they break her out in a rash. I’ve tried soapnuts with great success, but they are a little spendy in large amount, and with the amount of laundry I do on a weekly basis, it makes more sense to make my own. So… break out pinterest! I tried a couple of liquid homemade ones, but I couldn’t get it right. Then I saw this one… concentrated laundry detergent, it’s a lot like whipped buttercream. It works fantastically too! I am super impressed. I made about 9 months of detergent in the end, for about $16! Awesome!

Day 204: Happy Birthday Baby!

As of today I have been a parent for an entire decade. Wow. She has changed so much… she is loving, determined and intelligent… also stubborn, dramatic and has a wide diva streak. I can’t believe this willful, wonderful creature has been in my life for so long. Happy 10th birthday Sweetheart.

Day 203: Family Binder

I have been working on this binder for the past week. Scouring the internet for useful printables and making my own when I couldn’t find what I needed. So far it’s been fantastic and so very useful! I’ll be posting more about it on my pinterest blog this weekend!

Day 202: Strange place to sleep…

My children all have the caving instinct. They are happiest making a tent or fort under the kitchen table to play. This brought it to a new level with DD#3 falling asleep under/on the coffee table. That really couldn’t have been too comfy! Comfortable  enough though apparently!

Day 201: Birthday party

Today my eldest celebrated her 10th birthday with a few friends. They had a great time swimming in the pool, painting on canvas bags and generally being children. I made this super easy cake for her and I have to say it was a hit!

Day 200: Schedule baby!

In an effort to make our lives easier, we are working on making a schedule – so far it’s been semi successful…. insofar that we have breakfast at 7am. But hey, we are working on it. On August 1st we are going to start working the school year schedule so everyone is used to it before school goes back on August 20th. Next to the schedule we have our chore charts. Each lists what chore each child has to do, and they get one ticket per chore. Each ticket is worth .25c that they can use to save towards a trip to the dollar store. There is also a reward card in the baggie – each chore the child does without complaining, they get one hole punched. Once they fill the nine square with holes, they’ve earned their happy meal for the next week.

Day 199: Meet Moon

I showed you a really gorgeous little filly the other day, today I decided to show you her Dad 🙂 He’s a lovely, young horse named Moon. Very curious and VERY spirited!
